Monday, September 16th on the Doctor Ira Breite Show on SiriusXM 81: Doctor Radio
A brief post on tomorrow's show. We are going to start with stories of the odd, and medical mysteries in general. I am reviewing for my board recertification (every 10 years!) and trying to learn all the various "zebra" diagnosis to be ready for the test. We'll start by talking about Naegleria, the almost uniformly fatal parasite that people get in fresh water. There is an outbreak in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, and we will be talking about this, and other "weird" and occasionally scary medical topics. If you have a medical mystery this is a great time to call at 1-877-NYU-DOCS!
Then, onto something a little bit more mundane. But common. Kidney stones. Mayo Clinic nephrologist Dr. John Lieske will be joining us to talk about those small pellets of misery. Find out what causes them, what you can do to prevent them, and what to do if the stones get out of hand.
We are going to spend the final hour recreating my office...A combination of Ask Doctor Ira and GI Update. Call me with your questions at 1-877-NYU-DOCS!
