Monday, August 29, 2016 on the Doctor Ira Breite Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine Show on SiriusXM 110: Doctor Radio

Summer may be fading fast but that doesn't mean its over yet!  We have an interesting and informative show planned for you.  Starting with exercise: or the internal complications of it, at least. David Nieman, DrPH, FACSM and a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and Professor at Appalachian State, will be joining us to talk about exercise induced immune dysfunction. We always talk about how good exercise is for you: is it the whole truth (well, it is, but its good to learn how to ameliorate the downsides).

Exercise questions?  Give us a call at 1-877-NYU-DOCS

After that we will have GI update, where I will let you know the latest and greatest in the world of digestive disease and answer your questions on all things gastroenterology related.  Give me a call or send me a tweet!

I have always loved mathematics and, as a doctor, believe that the mathematical and quantitative reasoning skills I learned in school and college have been invaluable in my career.  Join me as I speak with Ms. Cindy Lawrence, the CEO and Executive Director of the Museum of Mathematics right here in New York City.

We will end the show with Ask Doctor Ira, where you can ask me any question on any medical topic at all: anything you forgot to ask your doctor ask me!  Give me a call at 1-877-NYU-DOCS!

I was eating in a seafood place in Ithaca, New York (yes, I know...no ocean nearby).  Ithaca is beautiful, the seafood was excellent, and absolutely nothing happened to me.  So of course, I started thinking about all the things that could have, and what to do about it.  Fish...scromboid poisoning.  Trees...allergies.  And the Epipen has become ridiculously expensive.  Join me and allergist Dr. Paul Ehrlich as we talk about the perils of histamine!

Allergy questions: give us a call at 1-877-NYU-DOCS!

My GI Board review continues unabated. During GI update, I'll tell you some interesting tidbits and answer your digestive disease questions at 1-877-NYU-DOCS.  Or send me a tweet.

We all know that Jet Lag can mess up your day: those circadian rhythms do not like to be messed with.  Now research shows that how badly you get infected by a virus may be affected by these rhythms as well.  We will be talking with the authors of a paper from Cambridge University about how, in lab and animal models. the circadian rhythm affects how well viruses regulate.

We will end the show, as always, with Ask Doctor Ira, where you can ask me any questions on any medical topic at all: anything you forgot to ask your doctor ask me!  Give a call at 1-877-NYU-DOCS!

Monday, August 8, 2016 on the Doctor Ira Breite Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine Show on SiriusXM 110: Doctor Radio!

While I usually don't think about US Presidents and their wives during the summer, this year has certainly been an exception.  So, when I saw that Mary Todd Lincoln may have been affected by pernicious anemia, a form of vitamin B12 deficiency, I was intrigued.  Join me and Dr. Kenneth Hymes, a hematologist and Clinical Associate Professor at the NYU School of Medicine, as we talk about Mary Todd's clinical issues, how they may be B12 deficiency, and what you should look out for even if you are not going to be the first lady (or gentleman).

Anemia questions?  Give us a call at 1-877-NYU-DOCS!

After that, it will be time for GI Update, where I will tell you the latest and greatest in the world of digestive disease as well as answering your questions on all things stomach, liver and colon related at 1-877-NYU-DOCS.  Or send me a tweet!

The lower abdomen.  The pelvis.  So many different organs.  Which one is guilty of causing your pain?  Join me and OB/GYN Dr. Jessica Shepard as we talk about lower abdominal pain: GI or GYN?

Pelvic or lower abdominal issues?  Give us a call at 1-877-NYU-DOCS!

We will end the show, as always, with Ask Doctor Ira, where you can ask me any medical question on any topic at all: anything you forgot to ask your doctor ask me! Give us a call or send me a tweet!
