Is it different? Is it the same? More importantly, how you should you and your doctor approach these two problems? Join me and University of Michigan Gastroenterologist Dr. William Chey as we talk about his new study looking at the two.

Sometimes we have to get the basic science to understand more about the medicine. Take infections for example. If you think you have a urinary tract infection, your doctor needs to send a sample of your urine to a lab for culture and sensitivity testing. What if there was an easier way? Join me and Dr. Waseem Asghar of Florida Atlantic University as we talk about how they are "developing point-of-care (POC) and microfluidic biosensors for rapid detection of various diseases including Cancer, Candidiasis, and HIV." Really. On a smart phone. Wow.
We will end the show with Ask Doctor Ira, where you can ask me any question about any medical topic: anything you forgot to ask your doctor ask me! Give us a call at 1-877-NYU-DOCS!

While there have been many "pill-cams" developed over the years, most of them are only capable of looking at the upper intestine and small bowel. But a new one may be able to accurately detect polyps in the colon. Join me and NYU Gastroenterologist Dr. Seth Gross as we talk about this new Check Cap technology.
