Tomorrow, January 26th, 2009, on the Dr. Ira Breite Show on Sirius 114/XM 119

New Week. New President. Still cold here in the Northeast. And a very entertaining and educations Dr. Ira Breite Show scheduled for tomorrow!

We will start off by talking with Dr. Emile Hiesinger, who is an expert on back pain and repetitive strain injury. Besides being on staff at NYU-Langone Medical Center he is also an author.

If you have been having pain, and have not been getting the relief you would like, give us a call at 1-877-NYU-DOCS!

After this, we are bringing back Dr. Joseph Alukal, the director of benign prostate disease here at the NYU-Langone medical center to talk about testosterone supplementation. We've had Dr. Alukal on before to talk about other prostate and mens' health issues, and he is extremely knowledgeable and sensitive with these issues. If you have any questions about decreasing libido and the use of testosterone supplements, this is a great time to call (its the radio! you don't have to use your name.)

Give us a buzz at 1-877-NYU-DOCS

Like most of us, I have wondered about the use of various supplements and oils in promoting health. Is it good for you, and if so, is there too much of a good thing? With that in mind, I will be joined by Dr. Jonathan Whiteson to talk about omega-3's...

If you have any questions at all about omega three-s in the prevention of heart disease, give us a call at 1-877-NYU-DOCS!

Of course, we will end off the show with "Ask Dr. Ira" where I tell you about what's been going on in my office, answering your emails (via sirius.com/doctor radio or of by emailing me directly at irabreite AT yahoo.com)

Tomorrow, January 19th, 2009 on the Dr. Ira Breite Show: Doctor Radio, Sirius 114 and XM 119

We have a great show lined up for tomorrow! In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Day, and of the upcoming inauguration of Barack Obama as our 44th President, we have dedicated part of the show to Presidential health. I will be talking with Dr. John Sotos, a Cardiologist who is an expert on Presidential Health. (9 to 9:30 AM EST)

We will also be talking with NYU-Langone Medical Center physician Gbenga Ogedegbe, who is an expert on hypertension and is running a program to help increase minority participation in blood pressure monitoring and treatment. He has been on with us before, and was a great help to many of our listeners as he is able to explain the sometimes complicated treatments that are often used to treat this common problem. You can call him with your questions at 1-877-NYU-DOCS! (8:30 to 9 AM EST)

Its winter, and despite holidays and inagurations, if you are an internist, you are seeing lots and lots of sinusitis. And if you're anybody stuck in the freezing cold, you either have it, know someone who has it, or are about to get it! I'll talk to an expert, Dr. Todd Schaffer, about what you can do about sinusitis, including surgical treatments. If you have any questions at all about your sinuses, especially if you are so miserable that the idea of surgery seems fine, given us a call at 1-877-NYU-DOCS

Of course, we will have open phones and stories from my office on Ask Dr. Ira! I would like to thank all of you who have been sending me questions and show ideas to irabreite AT yahoo.com. I will be trying to get to them on the air or get them on as a whole segment. Keep those ideas and questions coming.

IF YOU HAVE ANY MEDICAL QUESTION AT ALL call me at 1-877-NYU-DOCS. Lets think about your issues together!

Tomorrow, January 12, 2009 on the Dr. Ira Breite Show on Sirius 114 and XM 119: Doctor Radio

As I hit my forties, I am even more amazed about how some of my friends stay in such amazing shape.  I'm a little envious, and I want some answers!  Fortunately, tomorrow I should get my chance to hear about what they're doing right.  I will be joined on the line by Dr. Vonda Wright, the author of "Fitness After 40."  If you have any questions for Dr. Wright (I have plenty, believe me, but I want to hear yours just as much) give us a call at 1-877-NYU-DOCS (8 to 8:30 EST).

There have been a lot of reports in the news recently about all kinds of food born infections: they don't just happen in the summer.  As a gastroenterologist, I have expertise in treating these conditions.  But to help get the complete view of the process of food born illness (and how to avoid it!!) we have brought in a PhD, NYU's own Dr. Phillip Tierno, the author of "The Secret Life of Germs."  If you have any questions about food safety in your own household, or in a local restaurant (or even your mother in law's house), call us at 1-877 NYU-DOCS. 8:30 to 9:00 EST

Are you dizzy? Do you have ringing in the ears?  Well, we'll be talking to Dr. Herbert Silverstein, a leading authority on Meniere's disease (listen and you'll find out what this means!).  Give us a call at1-877-NYU-DOCS and find out how now to be dizzy!

Of course, as usual, we will have open phones for "Ask Dr. Ira," where you can ask me any question you like on any medical topic at all!

If you have any topics you'd like me to discuss with an expert, or if you have a general medical question for "Ask Dr. Ira" let me know at irabreite AT yahoo.com.

Guest Appearance Tomorrow!!

I will be on the Oncology show on Sirius 114/XM 119 tomorrow from noon to 1 pm Eastern, January 7th, 2009. The topics are still pending, but no matter what they ask, I'll have an answer! Its a great time to call in with any symptoms that you have that you're worried about. There's an old joke amongst us doctors that whatever people ask, what they're really want to know is "is it cancer!" OK, we're not that funny as a profession, but its still an important issue.

If you have any questions about whether the gastrointestinal symptoms you have may represent a malignancy, give us a call at 1-877-NYU-DOCS

Happy New Year! Tomorrow on The Dr. Ira Breite Show on Sirius 114 and XM 119, Doctor Radio

Happy New Year to everyone. Now that I have rested (except for an appearance on Dr. Raj's show on Wednesday), I am back and raring to go! We have, as usual, a great lineup scheduled for tomorrow. In addition to open phone lines on ask Dr. Ira (and keep those emails coming to irabreite@yahoo.com...we are trying to get to them on the air!), we will be talking with a specialist on male sexual health about some issues that you may have been a little embarrassed to ask your own doctor. Well, ask us! Call at 1-877-NYU-DOCS and we'll be happy to answer any questions you may have on sexual performance, aging and sex, and even sexually transmitted disease. Take advantage of that satellite subscription!

We'll be talking with registered dietitian Keri Gans, and I'm making sure to get all my questions answered about New Years weight loss...you can get yours too!

Finally, with the financial crisis causing job loss and portfolio misery we will talking with Dr. Charles Goodstein, an expert psychiatrist about some of the stressful issues that can occur when your college fund or retirement fund collapses right before you need it. And of course, what you can do to get your mental house back in order. I have (unfortunately) no good financial advice!
