Monday, May 4th on the Doctor Ira Breite Show on SiriusXM 81: Doctor Radio

Loving the good weather.  But the change of seasons always seems to bring a change of diseases.  Allergies and respiratory complaints abound.  Could there be a seasonal relationship between other kinds of diseases?  Join me and Ms. Jacqueline Argamany of the University of Texas Austin as we talk about seasonal variation in C. difficile infection.

After this we will have Gastroenterology Update, where I will tell you the latest and greatest in the world of digestive disease.  We will take your calls at 1-877-NYU-DOCS and your tweets as well.

It turns out May is National Celiac Awareness Month.  Join me and Beth Hillson, the author of The Complete Guide to Living Well Gluten Free as we talk about getting your pantry gluten free for summer!

We will end the show with Ask Doctor Ira, where you can aske me any medical question on any medical topic at all...anything you forgot to ask your doctor ask me!  Give a call at 1-877-NYU-DOCS!

Hi Dr. Breite,
First of all, thank you for your radio show- you are helping many people!
I can't call with a question because I am driving when you are on, so here it is:
I have a family member who needs help. What would you suggest in this scenario:
What if someone has Crohns, Ulcerative Colitis, etc. and gets c-diff. (Caused by taking doycycline for oral pemhpigus). Then they take Difficid for 2 weeks to get rid of the c-diff. They were checked and are clear. Then a few months later, they get the usual UC symptoms (diarrhea, cramps, etc.) How does the person know it is UC/Crohns versus the c-dif coming back? What are the chances it comes back (assuming no hospital visits and no more antibiotics)? We are concerned we will think it is one thing, when it may be something more dangerous and miss it. Can it come back by itself?
Thanks for all of your work!
